With relatives of Thomas Clarke, Sean Mac Diarmada, and past, present & future Oireachtas members at the 1916-2016 Commemoration in Carrigallen Co. Leitrim.
Dr Martin Mansergh delivered the key note address prior to the unveiling of a plaque honouring; Tom Clarke, whose father was a native of Errew, Carrigallen and Peter Paul Galligan, who was born in Church Street, Carrigallen, and who went on to lead the Rising in Enniscorthy, Co Wexford.
Maura Mylonas, great grandniece of Leitrim’s other patriot, Sean Mac Diarmada, raised the tricolour.
Great turnout by the community in their 1916 costumes too.

France’s work is firmly rooted in the traditional techniques and skills of weaving but there are so many layers to her work and its richness, it really is worth a visit.
And we wish her well as she represents Ireland at the International Fibre Art Biennale in Beijing, China in September.
Take this chance to see her work at Keith Nolan’s Photography Studio (door beside Wispeys) 11am to 5pm, 14th to 20th July and Frances will also be working on a significant piece in the space for the duration of the show or alternatively go to Beijing in September to see her work
The new Leitrim Tourism website is www.leitrimtourism.com or www.enjoyleitrim.com which has an excellent log in for Tourism trade members to ensure all they have to offer is up to date. There is also a county calendar of events and much more..Log on to see more!
