Preparations for the Connacht Fleadh 2013



Met with Ireland Team Manager Giovanni Trapattoni this afternoon in the Council Chamber where he announced his squad for the forthcoming senior international fixtures versus England, Georgia, Faroe Islands and Spain.
The event was part of Carrick on Shannon’s 400th Anniversary celebrations, in conjunction with the FAI and Leitrim County Council’s work and involvement in initiatives such as Community Soccer Programme the Goal for Peace Programme with the International Fund for Ireland. Trapattoni’s press release will be placed with other items in a time capsule at the Council offices as part of the Carrick 400 celebrations.

I had the pleasure of launching the Leitrim LiveCRAFT project on Friday 12th April. Thank ou for the Invitation.
The LiveCRAFT project is a Leitrim Development Company programme delivered by The Leitrim Design House in association with the Leitrim Sculpture Centre to provide assistance & training to our creative entreprenuers in Leitrim. Over 65 people from Leitrim’s Creative sector came together after the launch for a creative thinking afternoon. I look forward to very positive outcomes from the project

Launch of LEADER4Enterprise in The Bush Hotel. This is a Leitrim Development Company programme of funding and support helping Leitrim businesses grow.

LEADER4Enterprise is a nine month support programme for new and existing businesses in Leitrim. The aim of this exciting new programme is to let people know about the LDC funding available to rural businesses to develop new projects and create jobs in Leitrim.Business owners, members of the farming community, budding entrepreneurs, people with innovative business ideas, as well as community leaders are invited to participate. The NORTH WEST branch of the 5050 Group Launch of the book ‘The Road to 50-50 – Gender Quotas for Ireland’
The Launch was performed byJustine McCarthy Sunday Times columnist and currently National Newspapers of Ireland columnist of the year and adjunct professor of journalism at the University of Limerick. The 50-50 Group is a voluntary national advocacy group dedicated to achieving equal representation in Irish Politics.
Very inspirational evening.
Other speakers included:Senator Susan O’Keeffe, Sligo and Fiona Buckley Co-founder of 50-50 & Dept. of Government in UCC.

At the Official launch of Eivers Lane Childrens outdoor facilities, Mohill. Congratulations to Cllr Gerry Kilraine & all the voluntary committe and the staff of the Childcare Centre. Fantastic facility & Service in Mohill.

Delighted to meet with members of Comhairle na nOg Liatroma, today in the Council Chamber, for the launch of the results of their Facilities Survey in Leitrim. The outcome of their work makes very interesting reading and should be fed into the Councils policies going forward. Congratulations to everyone involved and thank you for the invitation. Comhairle na Nog is an initiative of the National Children’s Office under the National Children’s Strategy. It provides an opportunity for young people, under 18 years of age, to have a say in issues that affect their lives. It is composed of representatives of secondary schools and relevant youth organisations and meets two or three times per annum, usually on Saturday so as not to disrupt school activity.
In the last year our two Comhairle na nOg Liatroma provided representation to a number of initiatives.


Harnessing Creativity Project launched today,at the Dock Carrick on Shannon. This cross-border project is a very important and exciting initiative for our creative sector and business community. Congrats to all involved especially Project Co-Ord Anna-marie O’rourke and the whole team who have made this all possible.
