Leitrim Equation Launch

Delighted to attend the Official launch of the Leitrim Equation 3 CD.the launch was performed by Dr Sandra Joyce Acting Director of the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick .
Following the launch, over twenty of Ireland’s finest traditional musicians are coming together for a special concert. Leitrim Ambassador Initiative

“Become a Leitrim Ambassador” .The initiative launched earlier this year in New York , encourages Leitrim people based in the US to create awareness of the West of Ireland County and encourage people to consider it as a vacation destination.  In order to continue the success of the Gathering initiative Leitrim folk are being encouraged to tell their friends, family, neighbours and work colleagues about the Leitrim. Today, promotion of the initiative continued at the Leitrim Roots celebrations in  Lough Rynn Castle

Unveiling of Original Beam from Carrick Bridge

Today, an Oak Beam from the original 17th Century wooden bridge in Carrick on Shannon Bridge was unveiled by Minister Varadkar in the Council offices. The oak which was discovered during councils works near the parking lot at the Shannon in 2008 has been authenticated & verified by the Archaeological experts at Queens University & is now on display for all to see in the foyer of Aras an Chontae.

Lovely to meet with & chat to Dr Gerard MacAtasney tonight at the official launch of his book ” The Plantation of Leitrim 1585 – 1670″ . I recomend you get a copy of this book, if you can!!!!, the depts Gerard goes to in his research are obvious in the wealth of information in the publication. Huge credit too, to the Carrick on Shannon Heritage Group, for the initiative, the project & all the individual members support & work, as Gerard said tonight at the launch, we now have a comprehensive document specific to the County to further our understanding of our history for the period. —  at St Georges Heritage Centre Carrick on Shannon

Counties of Ireland hand-crafted jewellery Launch

Delighted to officially launch the Counties of Ireland hand-crafted jewellery at the Leitrim Design on Culture Night 2013. Each piece, made in Ireland, represents the place, the heritage, the memories and the culture of each of our 32 counties. Each county has an identity and a soul, and the makers Marion & Soraya said they hope their pieces connect with these unique qualities of each county.
The pieces have been carefully designed & each one finely finished. Skillful representations that will serve as a lasting and beautiful memoir of the wearer’s sense of place.

Official opening of St Patricks new Hospital Sensory Garden, in Carrick on Shannon. The official opening was performed by the wonderful broadcaster & singer/song writer, Charlie McGettigan. The garden is a unique space for patients and visitors  and  huge congratulations to the Carrick-on-Shannon Heritage Group, who brought the project to a fruition

Delighted on behalf of the Drumsna Development Association and the members of our Community to officially welcome back The 2013 Leitrim Rose Edwina Guckian to Drumsna. It was a very proud occasion to congratulate Edwina on her fantastic performance in Tralee, along with her family and friends. The proceedings concluded with a Rose planting ceremony on the Fairgreen, marked with a plaque to celebrate Edwindas achievements as an inspirational member if our community.
