Latest on the Grid West Project
Called into EirGrid offices today in Carrick on Shannon, to see the latest on the Grid West Project. This latest report, for delivering high-voltage power supply to the west of Ireland, sets out the preferred overground and underground options now being considered.
The project involves connecting the north Mayo area with a strong point on the transmission system near Carrick-on-Shannon (Flagford substation outside Carrick, in Co Roscommon).
There was controversy and serious concerns raised in October 2013, when EirGrid initially announced details of a preferred overhead route for the Grid West project. So now is the time to review and consider the proposals they are moving forward with!
Members of EirGrid said they would welcome any input from the public and they are available to answer any questions or concerns as well as available to give an overview of all aspects of the project.
Nows the time to have your input!
Carrick-on-Shannon Office opened
Thursdays 10am-6pm at
Unit 2, Mercantile Plaza block C.
