As Chairperson of Drumsna Comhaltas Branch, it was a pleasure to officially open and to welcome everybody, to the Leitrim County Fleadh 2014. It was particularly special to welcome our founding member Maureen McNabola and her family, and the families of our other two founding members; Thomas James McLoughlin and Maureen Duignan, to the unveiling of a commemorative monument to acknowledge their work and committment. The commissioned piece was produced locally, in a native stone, by Monumental Stoneworks. It represents the strong sense of pride we have in our culture, a culture of song, music and dance and a pride that has grown from the seeds of appreciation planted by our founders and the work of members, past and present.
